Grants in Action | 2024/2025 School Year
Perrysburg Schools Foundation approved a grant to fund the third annual Jacket U at Perrysburg High School, which took place during the first semester of the school year. Jacket U is a whole-school event designed to help students make connections with their peers and staff members who share similar interests or hobbies.
All students and staff members attended one 90-minute session or two 45-minute sessions on topics of their choice. Sessions were facilitated by students and staff members who volunteered to share a skill. Sessions covered different topics such as brain games, cake decorating, calligraphy, chess, crochet and knitting, euchre, pickleball, salsa dancing, screen printing, making water bottle rockets, and more.
Aaron Cookson, PHS Principal, shared: “As PHS is a growing school, we are constantly looking for creative ways to make it feel smaller. Jacket U does just that! Additionally, Jacket U enhances our school community via personal connections and helps to foster positive student-to-student and student-to-staff relationships.”
This is the second year that Perrysburg Schools Foundation has approved a grant to fund this event. Kristin Kaiser, Chair of the PSF Grants Committee, shared: “The Perrysburg Schools Foundation is happy to support such creative and innovative programs like Jacket U. Our staff and students have so many interesting hobbies and talents to share. PSF is proud to facilitate an afternoon where PHS supports one another and grows as a community.”
