Have you reviewed all of your giving options?
There are several ways to support our mission beyond traditional cash donations, each offering unique advantages that may surpass those of cash donations, including tax benefits and the potential for a larger contribution.
Some examples of non cash giving are listed below. Please consult with your financial advisor to determine the best giving strategy for your situation.
Gifts of Stocks or Appreciated Assets
Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have appreciated in value can be a tax-efficient way to contribute. When you transfer ownership of securities to the Perrysburg Schools Foundation, you may receive a charitable deduction for the full market value and potentially avoid capital gains taxes that would have been due if you sold the assets. This means you can give more to the cause you care about, at a lower cost to you.
IRA (RMD) Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you are 70½ years old or older, you can make a gift directly from your IRA to the Perrysburg Schools Foundation, known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution. QCDs can satisfy your required minimum distributions (RMDs) without increasing your taxable income. This can be particularly advantageous if you do not need your RMD for personal expenses and wish to reduce your tax burden while supporting our students.
Leaving a Bequest
A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust, and it is one of the simplest ways to support the future of education in Perrysburg. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset to be donated to the foundation. This type of gift allows you to retain control of your assets during your lifetime while providing meaningful support to the foundation after your passing.
Beneficiary Designations
Many financial accounts and insurance policies allow you to name a beneficiary who will inherit the assets upon your death. By naming the Perrysburg Schools Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, life insurance policies, or annuities, you can ensure that your commitment to education continues.
Grants from Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
A Donor-Advised Fund is like a charitable investment account, where you can contribute cash, securities, or other assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to your favorite charities over time. By directing a grant from your DAF to the Perrysburg Schools Foundation, you can simplify your giving and potentially allow your contribution to grow tax-free before it is gifted.
