Grants in Action | 2023/2024 School Year

Meghan Yarnell, Perrysburg High School Art Teacher, saw a need to improve the system for students to move their projects on and off the pottery wheels without warping them. She requested a $385 grant from Perrysburg Schools Foundation for five durable pottery wheel bat systems. About 150 students will benefit from these new systems each school year.

“The current bats are masonite and were provided by me and cut out by my husband and they’re starting to look pretty rough,” Ms. Yarnell explained. “The new bats are made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic, which is a very tough and durable plastic used in a range of manufacturing applications.”

The Perrysburg Schools Arts Council is charged with suggesting areas of funding from the Perrysburg Schools Foundation and its Campaign for the Arts that supports the visual and performing arts through student discovery, student experience, program growth and program sustainability.
