PHS students using new music stands in orchestra class.

Grants in Action | 2023/2024 School Year

Ms. Abigail Miles, Orchestra Teacher at Perrysburg High School, requested a grant from Perrysburg Schools Foundation for $2,700 to obtain a class set of music stands for the orchestra room at PHS, which is a benefit to about 350 students each year. She requested a separate $800 grant to provide electronic tuners for every student to use in each class as well as batteries to maintain the tuners. She also requested a $3,285 grant to obtain cases for the school violin and violas to replace worn existing cases with more durable ones.

“Each of these equipment upgrades may sound like small additions to a large program, but the difference of having professional equipment for our students so they, and the teachers, can focus on music is huge,” shared Ms. Miles.

The Perrysburg Schools Arts Council is charged with suggesting areas of funding from the Perrysburg Schools Foundation and its Campaign for the Arts that supports the visual and performing arts through student discovery, student experience, program growth and program sustainability.
